Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOUL 3, 2023Muirton, 11 February

The third event in the 2023 Scottish Orienteering Urban League took place in Perth, organised by Tayside Orienteers, with some good ESOC results.

The SOUL 3 event centre was at North Inch Community Campus, in the NE part of Perth near the River Tay. The start was to the west, and the courses then took competitors through the complex
North Muirton housing estate. This is a great area, as it has many similar blocks of houses at various angles, some open grassed areas and trees, with walkways everywhere giving lots of route choice, and concentration needed throughout (there were a few dead ends to trap the unwary). The longer courses also visited South Muirton, a less complex area where there were some very long legs. The whole map is almost flat.
The weather was dry and bright with some sun.

ESOC results in the top half of their class:
M Vet (11 competitors) – Terry Johnstone 3rd, David McNeish 5th
M Supervet (13) – Keith Brown 6th
W Supervet (17) – Helena Nolan 3rd
M Ultravet (10) – Ewart Scott 2nd, Crawford Lindsay 4th
W Ultravet (9) – Janice Nisbet 2nd, Sally Lindsay 5th
M Hypervet (10) – Ian Pyrah 3rd
W Hypervet (5) – Eleanor Pyrah 1st, Katy Lessells 3rd
W Junior (11) – Megan Brown 5th

Results, Routegadget and other details about the event are on the Muirton SOUL page of the TAY website.
