Sprint Scotland 2023 was organised by Masterplan Adventure and featured 3 World Ranking Events, including a Knock-Out Sprint for the elite classes, as well as the 9th event in the 2023 Scottish Orienteering Urban League.

Masterplan Adventure organised Sprint Scotland 2023, a weekend of Sprint events.

Saturday’s events were in Alloa. The event centre was at the Bowmar Community Centre, south of the town centre, with the finish on playing fields just to the west.
The Alloa map was new for this event and includes typical town centre terrain, with shops, offices and car parks, as well as modern housing estates with many small pathways, pends and courtyards.
For most ESOC competitors, this was a 2-part Sprint event. For the Men’s and Women’s Open classes, the event was a Knock-Out Sprint, with the first race as the qualifier, followed by 2 races in the afternoon: a Semi Final and Final.
The weather was sunny and warm.

Sunday’s event was in Falkirk, with the arena in the town centre and indoor facilities at a nearby Scout Hall. The event was a Sprint race for the Men’s and Women’s Open classes, on a new map of the town centre, and their start was a short distance NW of the event centre. For other classes, it was an Urban event, with the start further to the south. The Urban courses started in Hallglen, a tricky modern housing estate, then ran through the west end of Callendar Park, before reaching the town centre and the same finish for all, in the pedestrian High Street outside the Howgate Shopping Centre.
The weather was again sunny, with a cooling breeze.
