STAG weekend in Pitlochry
STAG hosted a weekend of orienteering on Faskally, near Pitlochry, there were some very good ESOC performances!
The weekend started with a dash up the road from our own Lauriston Castle event to get to the Scottish Night champs which had a new start/finish location for Faskally, at the very Southern end of the map. The run out from the start went under the A9!
There were some excellent results from ESOC members:
Course 1: Andrew Dalgleish, 3rd (1st M21)
Course 3: Bill Stevenson, 7th (3rd M60)
Helena Nolan, 8th (1st W40)
Course 4: Craig Nolan, 2nd (2nd M16)
Andrew Lindsay, 4th (4th M16)
Margaret Dalgleish, 7th (2nd W55)
Sally Lindsay, 9th (2nd W50)
Course 5: Rona Lindsay, 1st (1st W16)
A few brave ESOC souls braved the cold night up North for the annual STAG ‘unusual’ event (it’s usually either this or their Boulder Bonanza) with the theme this year being ‘Knoll Kollection’. The idea is that you get an hour to find as many of the knolls as you can on the map, with each one having an SI unit on! There are 80 knolls on the Faskally map so you had to carry 2 or 3 SI cards just to have enough spaces to punch them all!
The following people were in the top half of the field (knolls found out of 80):
1st Andrew Dalgleish (78)
4th Mark Wood (72)
6th Heather Houghton (70)
7th Mike Stewart (69)
11th Gemma Richards (67)
18th Les Dalgleish (63)
20th Tim Kieniewicz (60)
27th Maja Thorsen (58)
30th Mehmet Karatay (56)
