Explanation of event types

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Directions / Parking

Meeting point is Fountainbridge Green which is close to the west end of city centre so the best option is bus, bike or walking if you possibly can. Parking might be possible on Gibson Terrace which is adjacent to the start and should be unrestricted after 17.30. However, these fill up quickly as people return from work. Parking in other nearby streets should be possible but please check times for parking charges and times. The area is generally busy so parking close by may be quite difficult.
Possibly the next best option would be the (charged) underground car park at Fountain Park, which is about 300 metres away.

Course Information

There will be a long (approx 5km) and a short (approx 3km) option although these are most likely to be straight line distances so expect to run further than that.

Because of the road crossings ALL under 16s must be accompanied at all times by an adult when running. Due to the informality of the event the adult can also be competitive (see Entries section).
