Explanation of event types

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.

Officials' Reports

Planners/Organiser's comments: Blackford Hill is quite a tricky area at night so the courses were planned to be not too long and not too hard. It's almost impossible to keep up-to-date with the mapping of the gorse, and vague new paths are appearing all the time, too. The bunkers on the former golf course make nice control sites. It was good to see that nearly everyone enjoyed their courses, even those who took quite a long time. Local knowledge probably helped some people, but quite a few had never been here before, so well done all!

Organising a night event is a bit of a worry because of the obvious dangers. However we were lucky to have an excellent indoor centre at the Braid Tennis Club, the Start could be set out under street lights, the weather was mild and dry and everyone returned safely, so well done to the very streamlined team of helpers who made it all happen.
