CompassSport Cup Scottish Heat 2012Faskally, 19 February

A fantastic turnout from ESOC and some outstanding performances contributed to us winning the Scottish CompassSport Cup qualifying round at Faskally.

Sunday 19 February dawned clear, cold and sunny in Edinburgh and it remained so as we travelled north to Faskally, where there was the added bonus of a light covering of snow. The courses were challenging for all, as we battled GRAMP and MAROC for the single place available in the final later this year. There were some great results, with individual wins for Andrew Lindsay on Men’s Blue, Claire Ward on Women’s Blue, Alison Cunningham on Women’s Green, Fiona Findlay on Short Green and Rona Lindsay on Light Green. With 25 runners to count, there is ample opportunity to contribute to the club’s score, and despite having very few juniors available, the ones that could come contributed greatly to our final score. And remember that non-counters also contributed, by pushing down runners form other clubs and hence reducing their score. It was very close, and we defeated MAROC by 9 points only. Thanks to everyone for coming along, and to STAG for organising the event.
