East of Scotland Championships and SoSOL 9, 2024Blairadam Forest, 17 November
The 2024 ESOA Championships was held in conjunction with the ninth event in this year’s South of Scotland Orienteering League, which was organised by Kingdom of Fife Orienteers. There was a good turnout from ESOC, including plenty of trophy winners.
Blairadam Forest is close to Kelty, in Fife, and registration/download were in Kelty Community Centre. The start was to the west, via a footbridge over the M90, and the finish was further north, with a 20-minute walk back to the event centre. The terrain was described as an area of landscaped woodland (a mix of spruce and beech), with a network of established forest tracks, evidence of old mine workings, and a burn with steep slopes running from west to east across the map. Luckily it had been dry in the week before the event, so underfoot conditions were good. The weather on the day was quite chilly, dull and dry.
Congratulations to all the ESOA champions from ESOC:
Sebastian Bleakley (M10), William Atkinson (M14), Calum Robertson (M16), Keith Brown (M60), Kevin Harding (M65), Dave Kershaw (M70), Ian Pyrah (M80), Jessica Mackenzie (W10), Emma Daley (W12), Megan Brown (W16), Alison Harding (W60), Sally Lindsay (W65), Margaret Dalgleish (W70), Eleanor Pyrah (W80).
Full results, including Routegadget, are available on the KFO website.
