Jamie Stevenson Trophy 2015Kinnoull Hill, 14 June

ESOC juniors enjoyed the Jamie Stevenson Trophy event!

The Jamie Stevenson Trophy is an annual Scottish inter-club junior competition, named after the ESOC honorary member (a former ESOC junior) who won a gold medal at the 2003 World Orienteering Championships in Switzerland. This year the event returned to Kinnoull Hill, just outside Perth, scene of several previous JST events. The terrain is mixed woodland, with some thickets and open areas, and a network of paths.

12 Scottish clubs were competing, with nearly 150 juniors taking part. There are Yellow, Orange, Light Green and Green courses, with separate classes for boys and girls on each. The winner in each class gets 100 points, 2nd place gets 99 points, and so on, then each club’s best 6 scores are added up to find their total. This year, there were 8 ESOC juniors there.

MAROC won the trophy again, with 595 points, and ECKO and FVO tied for 2nd place, with 593 points. ESOC came 8th, with 548 points

ESOC’s counting scorers were:
Rachel Brown, Orange Girls – 99 points
Jamie Lawlor, Yellow Boys – 96 points
Kerry Wood, Lt Green Girls – 95 points
David McPhillips, Orange Boys – 94 points
Joseph Lawlor, Yellow Boys – 82 points
Ben Brown, Lt Green Boys – 82 points

Rowan Lawlor & Laurence Ward also completed the Yellow Boys course together.
