Kendal Urban Event 20127 May

Urban race enthusiasts enjoyed this event in the old market town of Kendal, in the southern Lake District.

A few ESOC members stayed on after the British Championships for another day, to compete in the Kendal Urban Event, which was the 4th race in this year’s Nopesport Urban League, as well as being part of the 2012 UK Masters Cup. Threatened rain fortunately held off until early afternoon.
The courses included some interesting variety: narrow alleyways and yards amongst old buildings in the town centre, ancient castle sites, a modern housing estate, parkland and formal gardens, with plenty of slopes and confusing steps, and the inevitable traps for the unwary.

ESOC results were as follows:
Men’ Open (47 competitors) – Andrew Dalgleish 7th
Men’s Supervet (93) – Crawford Lindsay 40th, Les Dalgleish 63rd
Men’s Ultravet (43) – Roger Scrutton 2nd, Ian Pyrah 4th, Brian Yates 38th
Women’s Supervet (58) – Margaret Dalgleish 18th, Janice Nisbet 25th, Sally Lindsay 26th
Women’s Ultravet (30) – Eleanor Pyrah 4th
Ray Ward also deserves a mention for the fastest time on the Men’s Veteran course (non competitive – there were no maps left for his own course)

Full results, comments and Routegadget are available on the LOC website.
