Moray Mix 201421/22 June
The Moray coast saw plenty of ESOC visitors for this excellent weekend, organised by Moravian Orienteers, with the SOUL 5 urban race in Dufftown on Saturday and SOL4 at Lossie Forest on Sunday.
The Urban event on Saturday 21 June was the 5th event in the 2014 Scottish Orienteering Urban League. The courses started at Mortlach Primary School, in the middle of Dufftown, and wound their way round the town, through housing old and new, across fields and through woods, with some tricky controls and confusing route choices. There were a lot of mispunches. Early starters had to contend with a heavy shower, and the weather was fine after that, though damp underfoot in places.

Young Junior Women (9) – Rachel Brown 1st, Megan Brown 5th
The 4th event in this year’s Scottish Orienteering League was on Sunday 22 June, in Lossie Forest, on the Moray coast. This is a splendid area of very complex, partly-forested dunes, easy underfoot in the forest but rougher in the open. Longer courses looped further inland through vaguer terrain. The weather was better than forecast, mostly dry with some very light showers.
