Scottish Night Championships 2015Drumpellier Country Park, Saturday 14 February

ESOC’s night orienteering enthusiasts won several classes at the Scottish Night Championships, hosted by STAG. Most were taking part in their second event of the day, following the Scottish Sprint Championships further west.

Drumpellier Country Park is on the edge of Coatbridge, east of Glasgow. The event centre was at the Lochview Family Golf Centre, to the east of the country park visitor centre. Courses set off across the golf course before visiting the wilder terrain of the country park itself, which is quite varied and includes mixed woodlands, open grassland and lowland heath, as well as some fearsome marshes and deep ditches. There are many paths and tracks throughout the area. The longer courses had 2-part maps with multiple loops. Underfoot conditions were soggy in places, though the weather remained dry.
There was food and socialising in the café afterwards while waiting for the prizegiving.

ESOC had 7 winners:
Heather Thomson, W40
Margaret Dalgleish, W60
Roger Scrutton, M65
Anne Stevenson, W65
Ian Pyrah, M70
Eleanor Pyrah, W70
Jim Clark, M75

Full results and more information about the event are available on the Scottish Night Championships event page of the STAG website.
