Scottish Night Championships 2016North Pentland Hills, Saturday 6 February
The 2016 Scottish Night Championships were organised by ESOC, and there was a fair turnout of ESOC competitors, with winners in several classes.
The competition area was SW of Edinburgh, just outside the Edinburgh City Bypass. Registration and download were under cover at the Bonaly Scout Centre, and the start was nearby. All courses started off over the small hills to the west, with complex contours, many crags and knolls. The longer courses headed up onto the moor beyond, and there were amazing views of headtorches snaking around the hillside. The open moorland was slow going, with heather and tussock. Unfortunately the weather was damp and windy, with early drizzle deteriorating to heavy rain later.
ESOC had 7 winners:
Walter Clark, M40
Jim Clark, M75
Claire Ward, W21
Heather Thomson, W40
Sally Lindsay, W60
Eleanor Pyrah, W70
Janet Clark, W75
