Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOL 2 – 2014Faskally Wood, 6 April

The second event in this year’s Scottish Orienteering League was organised by STAG and ScotJOS, and saw a good turnout from ESOC.

Faskally is just north of Pitlochry, and although this is a small area, there’s plenty of variety. It’s mixed woodland, quite hilly, with some intricate contours and rock features, an attractive lake, and a network of paths and tracks. The start was at the south end of the wood, approached by a walk under the A9 from various car parks in the town centre. The weather was drizzly (but very mild), and it was surprisingly dry underfoot.
Registration and download were at the Pitlochry Scout Hut, at the other end of the town, where many reconvened afterwards to discuss their courses and enjoy the cakes and hot drinks at the ScotJOS café.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
W21E (5 competitors) – Claire Ward 1st (NB: W21E ran Short Blue at this event and their results are listed separately)
Brown (27) – Craig Nolan 11th
