SOL 2 – 2015Bonskeid Estate, 22 March
This was a joint STAG/ESOC event, and there was a good ESOC attendance.
Bonskeid Estate is a small area of excellent terrain, whose map has been recently resurveyed. It’s on the N side of the River Tummel at its confluence with the River Garry, NW of Pitlochry. The terrain is varied, mostly coniferous forest, and quite hilly, with some very detailed contours, as well as rock features and marshes. There were a few areas of windblow that were difficult to get through. Longer courses had 2-part maps and good planning made the most of the area.
The weather was cloudy but bright with little wind, and it was dry underfoot, apart from in the marshes.
There was a serious computer problem, so full results weren't immediately available, but were sorted out very soon - thanks to all concerned.
