SOL 4 – 2015Glen Dye, 3 May

GRAMP hosted the fourth Scottish Orienteering League event of 2015, which was held on Deeside the day after SOUL 3.

As this was a double-header weekend, some of the ESOC contingent had stayed on after SOUL 3; at least one went back to Edinburgh and returned the next day! There was some serious competition on the longest courses from a number of international competitors, mostly from Sweden.
Glen Dye is near Banchory, and is a large, varied area, crossed by two minor roads. The start was to the west of the roads, and only the longest courses crossed over. Terrain included intricate moraine, flat open marsh, vague forest and rocky hillside. Unfortunately it was very wet and quite cold, so there was little socialising afterwards.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (38) – Claire Ward 10th
Blue (44) – Crawford Lindsay 19th
Short Blue (40) – Helena Nolan 11th, Roger Scrutton 18th
Green (43) – Maggie Scrugham 14th, Ian Pyrah 18th
Short Green (38) – Eleanor Pyrah 3rd, Fiona Findlay 7th, Anne Stevenson 10th
Jim Clark 13th, Leonne Hutchinson 15th, Maureen Brown 16th
White (14) – Joseph Lawlor 2nd, Rowan Lawlor 3rd, Megan Brown 7th
