SOL 4, 2019Drummond Hill, 8 September

The fourth event of the 2019 Scottish Orienteering League, organised by Interløpers, took place on a beautiful day, with some great ESOC runs.

Drummond Hill is at the east end of Loch Tay. The hill runs roughly east-west, and has a series of tops, highest at the western end. There was a longish drive up forest tracks at the west end of the hill towards the Assembly area at a wide track junction, with parking along the tracks. The junior start was nearby, and the senior start was 20 minutes along the track on the south side of the hill. It was a fine, sunny day, with some morning mist on the surrounding hilltops, and beautiful views along the loch. The terrain was mostly very pleasant, quite rough and steep in places, with complex contours, and there were some areas of fallen trees.
The weather was fine, and sunny most of the time. Underfoot conditions were good, with just a few marshy areas.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (18 competitors) – Jonathan Ellis 9th
Short Brown (29) – Peter O’Hara 9th
Short Blue (29) – Peter Halling 7th, Roger Garnett 8th
Green (51) – Rachel Brown 2nd, Alison Cunningham 9th, Alastair Lessells 11th, Sally Lindsay 12th, Maggie Scrugham 15th, Hanne Robertson 18th, Roger Scrutton 24th
Short Green (24) – Janice Nisbet 1st, Eleanor Pyrah 6th
Light Green (19) – Maja Robertson 10th
Yellow (8) – Calum Robertson 3rd
