SoSOL 2, 2025Corstorphine Hill, 16 February
ESOC organised the second event in the 2025 South of Scotland Orienteering League, and there was a good turnout from ESOC, with many helping as well as running.
Corstorphine Hill is a Local Nature Reserve on the west side of Edinburgh, and is a well-known venue for orienteering events. It is mostly wooded, with a good path network, and has some steep slopes on the east side, open grassy areas on the west side, and lots of crags and boulders throughout the area. Registration was at the southern end of the area, and the Start was about 20 minutes’ walk uphill, near Cairnmuir Road. Courses looped around the main part of the hill, before descending into the southern extension, which made good use of the map.
The weather was fine, with sunny intervals, and pleasant underfoot conditions.
