SoSOL2, 2019Drumpellier Country Park, 17 February

There was a great turnout from ESOC for the second event in the 2019 South of Scotland Orienteering League, which was organised by STAG.

Drumpellier Country Park is near Coatbridge, to the east of Glasgow. Registration and Download were at Townhead Community Centre, as the Drumpellier Visitor Centre is currently closed for redevelopment. The courses were in the southern part of the park, and the terrain included mixed woodland, open grassland, lowland heath, and some complex contours in old quarry workings, with a good network of paths and tracks and some gentle hills. Controls were spread throughout the southern half of the area, on a variety of features including some recently-dug pits and tall T-shaped posts in dense young woodland.
The weather was dull with some light rain, but mild for the time of year.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (5 competitors) – Ben Brown 3rd
Blue (31) – Tyler Morrison 3rd, Mark Rowe 6th, Heather Thomson 7th, Finlay Ross 11th, Peter Halling 12th, Crawford Lindsay 14th
