SoSOL4 - 2010/11Lanton Moor, 20 February
The fourth South of Scotland Orienteering League event of this season was organised by Roxburgh Reivers, at a small forest on the edge of Jedburgh.
Lanton Moor is near Jedburgh, on top of a hill, and there was a long walk up to the start, thus avoiding too much climb on the courses themselves. The area is mostly forested, with a surprising variety of features, which the courses made full use of. Longer courses ventured out of the forest to the area around Timpendean Tower, among some interesting medieval earthworks. Underfoot conditions were quite wet and rough in places, but most seemed to enjoy the event. It was a dull day, and quite chilly, but dry.
ESOC competitors in the top half of the results were:
Blue (39 competitors) – Rona Lindsay 6th, Craig Nolan 8th, Roger Scrutton 17th, Helena Nolan 19th
Green (32) – Maggie Scrugham 3rd, Margaret Dalgleish 5th, Bill Gauld 11th, Barney Huthwaite 13th, Sally Lindsay 14th
Orange (5) – Toby Huthwaite 2nd
