SoSOL4 - 2011/12Eildon Hills, 11 March
There was another good turnout from ESOC for this Roxburgh Reivers event, 4th in the 2011/12 South of Scotland Orienteering League series.
The Eildon Hills are near Melrose, in the Scottish Borders, steeped in history and legends. The start was high on the west side of the hills, so all courses started on the open hill, enjoying panoramic views, before dropping into the woodland on the south side. There was fast running in the open, and some new sections were used following gorse clearing. The weather was much better than in Edinburgh – a glorious spring day – and it was very dry underfoot.
ESOC competitors in the top half of the results were:
Brown (13 competitors) – Andrew Dalgleish 4th, Andrew Lindsay 5th
Blue (30) – Roger Garnett 10th, Martin Caldwell 15th
Green (38) – Rona Lindsay 1st, Janice Nisbet 2nd, Bill Gauld 9th, Robert Findlay 10th, Simon Firth 11th, Sally Lindsay 12th, Margaret Dalgleish 13th
Light Green (16) – David Matthews 3rd
Yellow (10) – Rachel Brown 1st
