Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL5 - 2011/12Riccarton, 29 April

The 5th event in the 2011/12 South of Scotland Orienteering League series was organised by Interløpers, and being so close at hand, was well-attended by ESOC.

Heriot-Watt University’s Riccarton campus, on the west side of Edinburgh, has a surprising variety of terrain, featuring complex modern buildings amongst parkland and woodland, and some water features including very large ditches. There was plenty of route choice. Although it was wet underfoot on grassy areas, most courses were predominantly on paths, so there were some very fast times. Damp weather brightened up and it was dry during the event itself, though quite chilly.

ESOC competitors in the top half of the results were:
Brown (34 competitors) – Andrew Dalgleish 6th, Andrew Lindsay 9th, Craig Nolan 17th
Blue (56) – Rona Lindsay 3rd, Mike Stewart 8th, Heather Thomson 11th, Martin Caldwell 18th, Clive Masson 19th, Keith Brown 20th, Helena Nolan 21st , Jim Hart 23rd, Roger Scrutton 24th
Green (45) – Margaret Dalgleish 13th, Bill Stevenson 14th, Sally Lindsay 20th, Calvin Crane 21st, Simon Firth 23rd
Light Green (15) – David Matthews 7th
Orange (12) – Lucy Hart +1 5th, Kerry Wood 6th
Yellow (7) – Rachel Brown 4th
