SoSOL6 - 2012/13Tentsmuir South, 23 June
The final South of Scotland Orienteering League event of the season was organised by KFO, and there were plenty of good results from ESOC.
Tentsmuir Forest is north of St Andrews at the mouth of the Tay estuary, and is a large area of forested sanddunes with a good network of tracks and paths. All courses involved intricate navigation among the forested dunes near the shore, and the longer courses had some very long legs and big ditches to cross.
The weather had turned cooler and was mostly dry, though there were some heavy showers that made the lush vegetation very wet.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Brown (23 competitors) – Jim Martin 7th
Blue (42) – Heather Thomson 7th, Gemma Karatay 9th, Keith Brown 12th, Mehmet Karatay 13th, Mike Stewart 16th, Roger Scrutton 18th, Finlay Ross 20th
Green (47) – Rona Lindsay 1st, Neil Williams 10th, Sally Lindsay 13th, Simon Firth 16th, Alastair Lessells 17th, Robin Hill 18th
Orange (7) – Ben Brown 2nd, Kerry Wood 3rd
Yellow (2) – Rachel Brown 1st
Full results are available on the KFO website.
