Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL6, 2017Kinnoull Hill, 5 November

This was TAY’s 30th birthday event, complete with hot chocolate and anniversary cake, in lovely weather.

Kinnoull Hill is on the eastern edge of Perth, and is a well-known landmark with its dramatic cliffs towering above the motorway and River Tay. The terrain is mixed woodland, with some thickets and open areas, a few rock features, and a complicated network of paths, which caused confusion at times yesterday. Registration was near the Jubilee car park on the NE side of the hill, and courses headed SW over several subsidiary summits. There were beautiful views from the cliffs and also from the top of the hill, visited by longer courses, and wonderful autumn colours everywhere. The weather was sunny and crisp all day.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Brown (16 competitors) – Andrew Lindsay 3rd
Blue (28) – Mark Rowe 4th, Keith Brown 5th, Ben Brown 6th, Finlay Ross 7th
Green (50) – Rachel Brown 2nd, Alastair Lessells 12th, Les Dalgleish 14th, Roger Scrutton 15th, Judy Bell 17th, Bill Stevenson 19th
