Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL6, 2018Mark Hill, 14 October

There was a very modest turnout from ESOC, with some excellent results nonetheless, for the sixth event in this year’s South of Scotland Orienteering League, organised by Solway Orienteers.

Mark Hill is near Rockcliffe, on the Solway coast south of Dalbeattie. The terrain is fairly rough, mainly coniferous forest with many rock features, including some high crags, and plenty of contour detail, some of which was described as “subtle re-entrants, spurs and hills, often in low visibility forest”, i.e. quite challenging.
The weather was fine, which was a welcome surprise after the very wet conditions on the previous day.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Brown (8 competitors) – Craig Nolan 2nd
Blue (29) – Keith Brown 7th, Ben Brown 9th, Helena Nolan 14th
Green (38) – Rachel Brown 1st, Les Dalgleish 12th, Judy Bell 16th, Roger Garnett 19th
Orange (7) – Megan Brown 3rd

Full results are available here and further details are on the results page of the SOLWAY website.
