Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL7 – 2014/15Tulliallan, 26 April

The final South of Scotland Orienteering League event of the 2014/15 season was organised by Interløpers, and there was a fair ESOC turnout.

The event was held at Tulliallan Police College, Kincardine, which is just across the Forth, next door to Devilla Forest. The indoor registration and other facilities (including a cake stall) were much appreciated, as it was chilly.
The terrain is mostly coniferous forest, with a lot of small hills, a loch, and a network of tracks and paths. It was particularly rough in places, due to fallen trees, brashings, and brambles, as well as some very large ditches. The last few controls were a big contrast, in the landscaped grounds of the Police College, and the finish was on open lawns. The weather was sunny much of the time, with some short hail showers, and it was remarkably dry underfoot.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Blue (34) – Roger Garnett 12th=
Green (28) – Alastair Lessells 2nd, Alistair Armitage 7th, Bill Stevenson 10th, Simon Firth 11th, Margaret Dalgleish 12th
Short Green (14) – Leonne Hutchinson 1st, Fiona Findlay 5th, Jeni Rowe 6th
Light Green (9) – Ben Brown 1st
Yellow (9) – Jamie Lawlor 2nd, Heidi Ross 3rd
White (16) – Joseph Lawlor 2nd, Lawrence Ward 5th, Megan Brown 7th
