SOUL 2, 2021Girvan, 25 September
The second event in the 2021 Scottish Orienteering Urban League was organised by STAG as part of an enjoyable Ayrshire orienteering weekend.
SOUL 2 took place in Girvan, on the Ayrshire coast. The start was in Stair Park, a hummocky grassy area of former dunes, and courses gave an interesting tour of the town. They looped and zig-zagged through a variety of urban terrain, with some surprisingly steep small hills. Most courses visited the harbour area, and longer courses had a few controls in a complex housing estate at the south end of the town. The weather was breezy but warm, with some sunny intervals.
There was a low attendance at this event, which was a pity, though there were unfortunate clashes with other weekend events.
