SOUL 3 - 2015Aboyne, 2 May

The third event in the 2015 Scottish Orienteering Urban League was organised by MAROC, with a new map of Aboyne to tempt competitors to Deeside. ESOC had some excellent results, with wins in several classes.

This event was based at the Aboyne Community Centre, which many had visited not long ago for the CompassSport Cup heat. The indoor facilities were even more welcome this time, as it was chilly, though dry and bright.
The start and finish were close by, and courses criss-crossed about Aboyne, through old and new housing, some open areas, surrounding woodland, and around the school and community centre. Longer courses had 2-part or even 3-part maps, turning over and switching between landscape and portrait format.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
M Open (10 competitors) – Andrew Lindsay 5th
M Vet (16) – Ray Ward 1st, Mark Wood 5th
M SuperVet (18) – Crawford Lindsay 5th
M UltraVet (10) – Roger Scrutton 3rd, Ian Pyrah 4th, Dave Kerwshaw 5th
W Open (7) – Claire Ward 1st, Helen Bridle 2nd
W SuperVet (9) – Margaret Dalgleish 2nd
W Ultravet (7) – Eleanor Pyrah 1st

Full results, further details and Routegadget are available on the SOUL 3 Event page of the Mar Orienteering Club website.
Some photos from the event are in the SOUL 3, Aboyne album of ESOC's Google Album Archive.
