Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOUL 8, 2025Newhaven, 23 November

The final event in the 2025 Scottish Orienteering Urban League was organised by ESOC and there was a great turnout from club members (many of whom were helping), with some excellent results.

This event featured a brand new map of the Trinity, Newhaven, and Fort areas, including Victoria Park. The terrain includes residential streets and industrial premises, with pockets of complex development. The event was based at Bangholm Outdoor Centre, which provided good indoor facilities. The Start was a short distance away in Victoria Park, and the courses set off in various directions to controls all over the park, before heading out into the surroundings. Senior courses had some long legs through residential areas, and all courses ended up on the Hawthornvale Path (part of the North Edinburgh path network), with the Finish on playing fields just outside the event centre.
The weather was very wet at first, then the rain eased off through the morning, so it was much more pleasant for later starters.

  • M Junior (1) – William Atkinson 1st
