Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOUL 9, 2022Elgin, 24 September

The eighth event in the 2022 Scottish Orienteering Urban League was postponed due to the Royal Funeral. The ninth event was organised by Moravian Orienteers.

The event centre for SOUL 9 was in Elgin library, at the edge of Cooper Park, north of the town centre. The start and finish were nearby, and junior courses stayed within the park. Senior courses covered a variety of terrain, leading around sports fields, through narrow alleyways and old buildings in the town centre, and finishing with a few controls in Cooper Park. Longer courses crossed the River Lossie and had more climb. Some competitors enjoyed a route choice that involved an escalator in the St Giles shopping centre!
The weather was mild, and mostly fine, with a couple of light showers.

ESOC results in the top half:
W Supervet (12) – Alison Cunningham 1st
M Ultravet (13) – Crawford Lindsay 3rd, Martin Caldwell 4th, Les Dalgleish 5th, Ewart Scott 7th
W Ultravet (8) – Janice Nisbet 1st, Sally Lindsay 2nd, Margaret Dalgleish 3rd, Rhona Fraser 4th
W Young Junior (10) – Emma Daley 2nd
