SSOF 2013Hopetoun House, 7 June
ESOC juniors competed at the 2013 Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Festival.
Some ESOC juniors ran for their schools at the annual Scottish Schools event, which took place at Hopetoun House, near South Queensferry. The terrain is mainly open parkland, with managed gardens and woodland, and a good path network. Longer courses visited the surrounding deer park.
Competitors came to the event from far and wide, with nearly 250 pupils taking part. The competition classes are based on academic year, from P5 upwards. In each class, the top 3 results for the same school are totalled to give the team score.
The weather was warm and sunny.
The ESOC juniors did well in several classes:
P5/6 girls – Rachel Brown 4th
P7 girls – Kerry Wood 6th
P5/6 boys – Jamie Lawlor & partner 10th
P7 boys – Ben Brown 13th
S4 boys – Angus Shaw 8th
S5/6 boys – Craig Nolan 2nd
