SSOF 2014Drumpellier Country Park, 6 June

ESOC juniors competed at the 2014 Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Festival.

This year’s Scottish Schools event was at Drumpellier Country Park, near Coatbridge. The courses ran around a loch with many water birds, and the terrain included flat open grassland, mixed woodlands and lowland heath.
Schools from all over Scotland were competing, with over 250 pupils taking part. A few ESOC juniors ran for their schools. The competition classes are based on academic year, from P5 upwards. There are team trophies for each class, worked out from the total time of the best 3 results for the same school.
It was a warm, sunny day.

The ESOC juniors did well in several classes:
P5/6 girls – Rachel Brown 2nd, Rhianna Mitchell 15th
S1 boys – Ben Brown 8th
Rachel & Rhianna's team (Bonaly Primary School) won the P5/6 Girls class.

See the Scottish Schools Orienteering Association website for full results and other information about the event.
