SSOF 2015Dechmont Law, 5 June
ESOC juniors enjoyed the 2015 Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Festival.
The Scottish Schools’ Orienteering Festival takes place every year in early June. The 2015 event was at Dechmont Law, in Livingston. This is a community park and woodland area, next to Deans Community High School, with a network of tracks and paths. Shorter courses stayed in the parkland area, which is mostly rough open grassland; longer courses ventured into the woods, which are quite rough in places.
Competing teams came from all over Scotland, with around 350 pupils taking part.
The competition classes are based on academic year, from P5 upwards. There are team trophies for each competition class, worked out from the total time of the best 3 results for the same school.
ESOC juniors did well in several classes:
P5/6 boys (a very large class) – Joseph Lawlor 31st, Rowan Lawlor 41st
P7 girls – Rachel Brown 2nd, Rhianna Mitchell 4th
P7 boys – Jamie Lawlor 9th
S2 girls – Kerry Wood 4th
S2 boys – Ben Brown 7th
S5/6 boys – Angus Shaw 3rd
Rachel & Rhianna's team (Bonaly Primary School) won the P7 Girls class.
See the SSOF 2015 page on the Scottish Schools Orienteering Association website for full results and other information about the event.
