STAG Winter Score 2, 2016Drumpellier Country Park, 10 January

Poor weather didn’t deter ESOC members from heading west for STAG’s second winter score event.

Drumpellier Country Park is on the edge of Coatbridge, east of Glasgow, and has a wide variety of terrain around a loch, including mixed woodlands, open grassland and lowland heath, with a good network of paths and tracks and some gentle hills. Controls were spread throughout the area, with several on elusive T-shaped man-made objects in dense young woodland. The weather was cold and wet, snowing at times, and underfoot conditions were very wet and muddy. The warm indoor facilities and café were very welcome.
As at the previous week’s event, there was a time limit of 60 minutes, with 25 controls whose points value ranged from 300 to 700, and a bonus system allowing anyone who had visited all 25 controls to revisit 6 of them for additional points.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Mike Stewart – 11th (9,880 points)
Heather Thomson – 13th (9,250 points)
Crawford Lindsay – 14th (9,100 points)
Margaret Dalgleish – 16th (8,400 points)
Finlay Ross – 17th (8,390 points)
Sally Lindsay – 18th (8,300 points)
Timothy May – 24th (7,500 points)
Zoe Clark (+ Walter?) – 25th (7,300 points)
