TAY Local Event - Craig a Barns10 March 2013
A select band of ESOC enthusiasts rose to the challenge of Craig a Barns at TAY’s local event.
Craig a Barns is close to Dunkeld, and is a classic area, familiar to many from last year’s JK. It’s a tough area, on a steep craggy hill, and this time it was snowing too! Courses started low, so there was a lot of ascent (and steep descent later), and the terrain is complex; with many crags, fallen trees and some areas of dead bracken, it’s generally rough underfoot. There were more retirals than usual.
It was cold, and snow showers were heavy at times but made the forest very pretty.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were as follows:
Blue (23 competitors, 15 finishers) – Claire Ward 1st, Andrew Lindsay 4th, Ray Ward 7th, Jim Martin 9th
Green (20, 15) – Janice Nisbet 4th, Sally Lindsay 7th
Orange (18, 11) – Robert Findlay 3rd, Fiona Findlay 4th, Anne Thom 6th
Results are on the TAY website.
