TAY Local Event - Hill of Alyth8 September 2013
Most of us missed this event, which was enjoyed by just a couple of ESOC members.
Hill of Alyth is a newly-mapped area, never used before for orienteering, near Blairgowrie, in Perthshire. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, and there were excellent views from the hill in the warm sunshine (the weather was much better than forecast). Although it’s a fairly small area, the orienteering was good, with some challenging navigation on the longer courses through the gorse patches and complex contours.
Mark Kassyk came 11th on Blue, and Anne Thom came 8th on Green. Anne’s daughter, Rosalind, was also there and came 6th on Orange.
Results and more details are on the Hill of Alyth event page on the TAY website.
