World Schools Orienteering Championships 2009Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, 14-20 April

3 ESOC juniors competed at the World Schools Orienteering Championships in Spain.

The Friendship Team race brings the competition to a close (Sunday 19th April) and Craig Nolan & his new friends, a Lithuanian and a Belgian student, finish 15th out of 155 teams.

Teams cross the river Henares on the way to the Finish.


Bronze for Rona Lindsay in the Middle Distance race (Saturday 18th April).


A forested hillside with steep slopes, erosion gullies and terraces, was used for both the Middle & Long Distance races. The forest looks to have little ground cover, ideal for fast running - where it’s not too steep!
