Explanation of event types
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun App.
Terrain type: Forest & Moorland

Planners' Comments
My thanks to:-
David Lane for helping put out the controls in the morning.
David Gow, David and Hanne Robertson for helping to collect the controls after the event.
The nature of the terrain meant it was hard to avoid a large amount of climb in the courses. The map is split by Torduff Reservoir so I decided to locate the White, Yellow and Orange courses on the former golf course with the other courses crossing into the Bonaly part.
I decided to try to plan the Green and Blue courses without needing to use double sided maps therefore the maps had a cluttered look. As the Bonaly part of the map had the potential for technically harder orienteering I made as much use of that part and used the Torduff part to make up the distance.

Organisers' Comments
Everyone was a star today, collectively creating a fantastic buzz in the wonderfully warm and welcoming Tiphereth Centre.
Special thanks to Catriona, Kirsten and Matt for their inspired presentation of the O-Zone; a place for Juniors (and adults) to meet and play with O-themed Lego courses, games and colouring-sheets.
Mark's courses were much complimented; the Start Team worked long and hard and got pretty wet, Registration and the Help desk were as busy as ever; the Mary Erskine group were bigger than ever, there were loads of young families; there was Junior Training at two levels.
Pretty good event altogether really, thanks to each and every one of you who contributed in any way, as competitor or volunteer helper.
