Thank you to everyone to coming to this event on such a lovely day, we hope you had fun. Maybe should have insisted on full leg cover to cope with the marauding nettles?

Safety Notes
General notes - please also read the Course specific notes below
- Other Users: Davidson's Mains Park is very well used by the general public, including dog walkers, runners and children's games. Please respect their right to be there at the same time as you are orienteering.
- Dogs: Competitor’s dogs are allowed and should be kept under very close control at all times.
- SAFETY NOTE RE DOGS: Please give any dog walkers you encounter whilst running on your course extra space ie don’t run too close, especially if their dog/dogs are off lead. This applies to all competitors, not just those running with a dog. We always need to respect other people's right to be there.
- Course Closure Time: All courses have a closure time of 4pm after which controls will start to be brought in . All competitors should be back at Download by 4pm.
- You must report to Download even if you do not complete your course, so we know you are back safely, and we don’t have to mount a search for you.
- Please check the weather forecast on the day and dress appropriately. The area can be exposed especially when windy and the grassy slopes slippery of wet, so please wear the most appropriate clothing and footwear for the course you are entering.
- There will be undergrowth, and although the courses have been planned to avoid the worst if it, full leg cover is recommended.
Please read and respect the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.
Course Information
Courses available are White, Yellow, Orange for beginners and junior improvers and Light Green for more experienced orienteers and adult improvers.
Notes
- There is a large construction site to the east side of the school which is fenced off. This is marked as temporary OOB which will be printed on the map. There is a small area to the north side which the Light Green course visits, the others do not.
The Light Green course offers a route choice which goes outside the main park and onto the pavement of the relatively quiet road into the school, with no need to cross the road, so seniors and experienced juniors only.
- The other courses remain within the main body of the park and avoid the school grounds.
- The lower wooded area at the east end of the area was heavily flooded earlier this year but courses avoid this area.
Start and Finish: The Start and Finish will be signed from Registration and will be close together a 10 minute walk through the school grounds, The route passes close to a control so please don't impede runners on their course.
