Interløpers Christmas Canter - Craigmillar Castle - 13 December 2009

This challenging area provided fun for all with interesting and varied courses.

On a cold frosty morning, there was a reasonable turnout of ESOC members for this event, which was also Interløpers Club Championships. Craigmillar Castle was billed as “a unique combination of parkland, intricate contour detail and complex urban terrain”, and lived up to this promise. The longer courses explored some very complex quarry areas, which provided much entertainment. Undergrowth was at its lowest, but brambles were still a problem for some. The urban areas were reportedly interesting too, and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the event.

Best ESOC results were:
Long Blue (36 finishers) – Walter Clark 24th, Sarah O’Neil 25th
Short Blue (3) – Mark Wood 1st, Helena Nolan 2nd
Green (28) – Ian Pyrah 8th, Finlay Ross 10th, Alastair Lessells 11th, Maggie Scrugham 13th, Sally Lindsay 14th
Yellow (19) – Jamie Fawthrop 6th
