STAG Winter Score 2, 2017Strathclyde Country Park, 15 January

ESOC members headed west again for STAG’s second winter score event.

Strathclyde Country Park is SE of Glasgow, beside the River Clyde and the M74. The main feature of the park is Strathclyde Loch, fed by the South Calder River, whose steep-sided valley cuts the park in half. The terrain is mature woodland (with some scratchy undergrowth) and open parkland, with plenty of tracks and paths, and it was often very muddy. The weather was dull with a few spots of rain, and it was milder than the preceding days.

As at the previous week’s event, there was a time limit of 60 minutes, with 25 controls, whose points value ranged from 300 to 700, with a maximum possible score of 12,500 points. The optimum route for all controls was reported to be at least 10km.

ESOC members in the top half of the results (35 competitors) were:
Rona Lindsay – 5th (10,600 points)
Mark Wood – 6th (10,410 points)
Crawford Lindsay – 7th (10,000 points)
Les Dalgleish – 14th (7,290 points)
Margaret Dalgleish – 17th (7,000 points)
