British Orienteering Championships 2025Lake District, 10-11 May
This year the British Championships weekend was in tough terrain in the northwest of England, and ESOC competitors rose to the challenge, with plenty of good results.
Scottish Championships 2025Barry Buddon, 3/4 May
It was the East Area clubs’ turn to organise the Scottish Championships, which were earlier than the traditional date. There were 2 Scottish champions from ESOC, plus other podium places at both Individual and Relay events.

April Social 2025Penicuik, Tuesday 29 April
It was a hot and sunny April evening when we met at The Craigie Hotel in Penicuik for Roger's orienteering social, reports Emma A. It was a combination of a Hagaby relay and a Harris relay which started next to the stream in the playing fields over the road.
JK Festival of Orienteering 2025South Yorkshire 18th - 21st April
Around 35 ESOC members made the journey south to participate in the annual JK this Easter, some taking part in all 4 days and some just one or two. There were a number of successes, including on the final day of relays when no fewer than 7 ESOC members ended up with medals round their necks!
SOL 2, 2025Limerigg, 13 April
FVO presented the second event in the 2025 Scottish Orienteering League, on a new map of the forest at Limerigg village, south of Falkirk.
SoSOL 4, 2025South Achray, 12 April
The fourth event in the 2025 South of Scotland Orienteering League was a Middle Distance race, organised by Masterplan Adventure, with just 10 competitors from ESOC.
SoSOL 3, 2025Calder Wood, 6 April
The third event in the 2025 South of Scotland Orienteering League took place near Livingston, organised by Interløpers. It was originally planned for exactly one year earlier, but had to be postponed due to Storm Kathleen. This year the weather was a complete contrast.
Scottish Sprint Championships / SOUL 3 2025Tweedbank, 5 April
Roxburgh Reivers hosted this year’s Scottish Sprint Championships, followed by another race which was the third event in the 2025 Scottish Orienteering Urban League.
Sprintelope 2025 seriesStarts on 16th April
ESOC will again take part in the annual Sprintelope series along with the other Lothian and Fife orienteering clubs (ELO, INT, AROS and KFO).
March Social 2025Corstorphine, Tuesday 25 March
On a calm dry evening club members enjoyed the choice of either an urban orienteering event or a Turf event. Both events started in the twilight at 7pm, just one week shy of the clocks changing otherwise it would have been fully in the light.
Scottish Middle Distance Championships and SOL 1, 2025Dallaschyle and Lady Culbin, 22-23 March
Around 30 ESOC members made the trip north to compete in the Scottish Middle Champs on Saturday, followed by the first Scottish Orienteering League race of 2025 on Sunday. Medallists from the ESOC contingent included two junior members.
British Middle Distance Championships 2025West Sussex, 15 March
The British Middle Distance Championships this year were in the deep south - just 6 ESOC competitors made the journey.
February Social 2025Greenbank, Wednesday 26 February
Celebrity M60s and W60s were being hunted on the streets of Edinburgh on Wednesday for the orienteering element of the February ESOC social!
CompassSport Trophy Heats, 2025Kinnoull Hill, 23 February
