World Schools Orienteering Championships 2009Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, 14-20 April
3 ESOC juniors competed at the World Schools Orienteering Championships in Spain.
World Orienteering Championships : Training Camp Selections
Following good results at the JK, new ESOC member Helen Bridle and former member Jo Stevenson have been selected for the WOC training camp in Hungary, May 11th - 15th. Congratulations to both.
JK International Festival of Orienteering 2009
Northumbrian Hills || 10th-13th April Two Gold, one Silver & one Bronze in the Sprint Races, a Bronze in the two-day Classic and a Bronze in the Relays. Additionally, new recruit Helen Bridle missed Gold by only 2 seconds in the Women’s Open Sprint and was placed 8th overall in the JK Women’s E
British Age Class Sprint Champs : 4th April 2009
Two Gold, three Silver and four Bronze medals plus first place in the Women’s Open race.
SOL1 - Auchingarrich, Comrie
There were many good results from ESOC members at the first event of 2009’s Scottish Orienteering League.
Compass Sport Cup : Craigallian : 29th March 2009
The Scottish Qualifying Round was run in conjunction with SoSOL 10 and ESOC progressed to the UK Final; thanks to everyone for turning up and running for the club.
SoSOL10 - Craigallian, Milngavie
A glorious morning saw a multitude of ESOC competitors at this CLYDE event, which was also the Scottish qualifying round for the CompassSport Cup / Trophy.
SoSOL9 - Binning Wood, East Lothian
There was a big turnout from ESOC for ELO’s South of Scotland League event.
SoSOL8 - Culzean, Ayrshire
Just a few hardy ESOC members braved the early snow to run at this sparsely-attended AYROC event, the 8th in the 2008-9 South of Scotland Orienteering League.
British Orienteering Championships
This year’s British Championships had a change of date which meant that it clashed with the ESOC Sprint O, but despite this, ESOC was represented at the event, held in the New Forest, Hampshire.
Scottish Night Championships 2009Birsemore Hill, 21 February
A handful of ESOC members travelled north to Deeside for the 2009 Night Championships, organised by MAROC.
STAG Winter Score 3 - Allean Forest
A few enthusiastic ESOC members went to the final event in STAG’s winter score series, the Knoll Kollection.
SoSOL7, Norman’s Law, Fife
Despite snow and ice, many ESOC regulars competed at this event and had an excellent day.
Edinburgh Big Weekend 200924/25 January
The weekend of 24/25 January saw two very different events in the heart of Edinburgh; the Edinburgh City Race and a SoSOL event on Arthur’s Seat. There was a great ESOC turnout for both days, with 2 winners in the City Race.
SoSOL4 - Drumpellier Country Park
The first South of Scotland Orienteering League event of 2009, organised by STAG, was well-attended, with ESOC members competing successfully in most classes.
