We had a relaxing trip to the Garnetts' home in the Manor Valley for our August Social.
World Orienteering Championships 2014Trentino and Veneto, Italy, 5-12 July
ESOC’s Claire Ward competed for GB at the World Championships in the Middle and Long Distance races and also in the forest Relay.

A fine afternoon on Cramond Island, even though the weather promised otherwise.
SOUL 6 - 2014St Andrews, 29 June
The 6th event in this year’s Scottish Orienteering Urban League was organised by ESOC in St Andrews, and was a score event. As well as helping, ESOC members had good results in many classes.
Moray Mix 201421/22 June
The Moray coast saw plenty of ESOC visitors for this excellent weekend, organised by Moravian Orienteers, with the SOUL 5 urban race in Dufftown on Saturday and SOL4 at Lossie Forest on Sunday.
Queen’s Baton Relay
Bill Stevenson carried the baton during the first Scottish day of the Queen's Baton Relay, part of the countdown to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Twin Peak weekend 2014Manchester, 14/15 June
A few ESOC members competed at the annual Twin Peak weekend, organised by Manchester & District Orienteering Club. This year’s event was 2 days of urban orienteering, and competitors came from far and wide.

ESOC members and friends enjoyed their Monday evening run in the Pentland Hills.
British Orienteering Championships 2014Northumberland, 31 May/1 June
The British Long and Relay Championships were held closer to Edinburgh this year, but the high cost depressed numbers competing. ESOC nevertheless had some excellent results.
Scottish Championships 2014Dalnamein / Newtyle Hill, 24/25 May
There was a great turnout of ESOC members for the Scottish Championships weekend; most managed at least one run, but some were too busy helping on both days. There were some great results.
