Tinto Twin 2016Carmichael Estate / Lanark, 12/13 November
There were several ESOC trophy winners at the 29th Tinto Twin weekend, which included the final event in the 2016 Scottish Orienteering Urban League.
Lake District November weekend 2016Sandscale Haws / Torver High Common, 12/13 November
A few ESOC members went to a double-header weekend of Level B events on excellent terrain in the southern Lake District, organised by LOC and SROC.
ESOC’s Penicuik weekend5/6 November 2016
ESOC presented 2 contrasting events: an urban event on Saturday, and the final event of the 2015/16 South of Scotland Orienteering League on Sunday. The latter was also the East of Scotland Championships.
Moray Mix 2016Culbin Forest, 29/30 October
This was a weekend of events in superb terrain, organised by Moravian Orienteers, with a Middle Distance race on Saturday and SOL7 on Sunday. Many ESOC members competed in both events.
CompassSport Cup Final 2016Tankersley Woods, 16 October
The ESOC team enjoyed a club weekend at the CompassSport Cup Final.
October Odyssey 2016Simonside / Slaley Hall, 8/9 October 2016
A handful of ESOC members competed at two contrasting areas in Northumberland, as well as spectating at this year’s Junior Home International.
SOL 6, 2016Fairy Knowe & Doon Hill, 2 October
The sixth event in this year’s Scottish Orienteering League was presented by Clydeside Orienteers, and plenty of ESOC members competed.
2016 London City RaceSaturday 10 September
A few ESOC members travelled south for the London City race, which was on a brand new area on the south side of the Thames.
Highland WOLF 2016Kingussie, 10/11 September
There was a great turnout from ESOC (and some great results, too) for this excellent weekend, which included the 8th event in the 2016 Scottish Orienteering Urban League, and the 5th Scottish Orienteering League event of 2016.
ESOC at the 2016 VHINorthern Ireland, 3/4 September
3 ESOC members were in the Scottish team at the 2016 Veteran Home Internationals.
Liverpool Big WeekendAinsdale / Liverpool, 3/4 September 2016
A few ESOC members decided to forego the delights of the ESOC Ultrasprint to compete at this excellent “Sand & City” weekend, organised by Deeside Orienteering Club and South East Lancashire Orienteering Club.
World Schools Selection Races, 2016Faskally, 28 August

There was a good ESOC turnout for AYROC’s South of Scotland Orienteering League event, which was originally scheduled to take place in February, but had to be postponed due to bad weather.
Croeso 2016
Croeso (Welsh for welcome) is the name given to the Welsh summer multiday event which is held once every 4 years. Eleanor Pyrah reports on the 2016 event from ESOC's point of view.
Purple Thistle 2016
Held at Balmacara, on stunningly wild open rocky hillside with distracting views of Skye (when the weather cleared enough to actually see the stunning views).
