Terrain description

This is a small but varied area NW of the city centre, including the buildings and extensive grounds of Mary Erskine’s School, as well as the wilder Ravelston Woods. The woods are a Local Nature Reserve, with carpets of bluebells in the spring, and there are plenty of paths.  The area was quarried for sandstone in the past, leaving lots of rock features including some very large crags, which are avoided by orienteering courses.
Used for Local events (e.g. Saturday events).
